why do I have to restart my PC?
I necessarily have to leave XP pro PCs running unattended for extended
periods (days, weeks) Software is running in the background (delinda) and data is written to an arrays mapped to each PC every day. (These are scheduled backups off another PC) The problems are that when I return and go to view the system status on a monitor, the PCs do not respond to moving the mouse or pressing keys on the keyboard. Also often the data is not written to the array. Another problem is the Pcs stop if the data written to the array exceeds its capacity. (I installed Delinda to purge data off the array to stay ahead of this particular issue) Is it a setting that needs to be changed? Is there a log I can view to determine if and when the PCs crashed? The PCs are on a network and have Internet, but are inside firewalls, and for me to remotely log on to them is not an option. The PCs can however email out no prob. Is there software that monitors the PCs health and can enail me when the PC dies? Lights are flashing on the PCs, so they might be running but I cannot interact with them until I hold the power button down and shut them down then reboot. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. |
