Default Optical drive not recognized.

I have two optical drives.

I disconnected one to use the cables for an SSD
and this worked fine.

But now the other optical drive is not recognized.
Why has this stopped working?

System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
System Model: X58A-UD7

X58/ICH10R (LGA1366) 6 SATA
Marvell 9128 2 SATA (+ 1 IDE not used???)
JMB362 2 SATA (close to ESATA connectors on back)
GB SATA2 (JMB368?) 2 SATA + 1 IDE

About the only thing I can figure, is the Marvell
supports RAID, and maybe ATAPI mode doesn't work if
a RAID drive is plugged into one of the Marvell ports ?

I've done some tests & it looks like a faulty
cable/connector.
