it's carrier locked to virgin mobile and he wants to use it with a
different carrier.

OK, if that's what you want. Excessive gear IMO, or paranoia a notch or
two above mine. But it's your life. :-)


how is using a mobile hotspot paranoia?

do you even know what it does?
