Desktop pic Program ???
I have been having trouble printing JPG pics. The only one that seems
to work is the one I get when I right-click on a desktop jpg icon which brings up a niceprogram with a nice selection window allowing me to do in part 1,2,4,..... pics per page. If I select 1 pic per page, the result is a nice 8X10 pic. Not only do I not get this app any other way, but their results are not 8X10, How do I select the app that works? IOW, where and what is it? Seems stupid, but I really would like to create an icon shortcut to it, whatever it is. Thanks xxxxx |

Thanks xxxxx This is an example of the always-helpful Windows UI. https://i.postimg.cc/0yVj2PY4/photos-Win10-App.gif ******* OK, now go to Start : Run (right-click the Start Orb) Type in this, then Enter. shell:appsfolder A fake folder will appear on the screen. Scroll until you see Photos icon. You can make a shortcut icon on your desktop. Big deal! The only problem with this, is the registry entries haven't been set up properly to make it work. The shortcut only opens in management mode, not in viewer mode. You can't drag and drop a file onto it, because it has no DropTarget registry entry. It's beyond my pay scale to fix it. If you stray too far off target, you'll be headed into DefaultApp territory. And the objective here is not to trash your computer, it was to make it a little more friendly. https://www.tenforums.com/software-a...iew-order.html Paul |

If you can find it in either C:\program files or C:\program files (x86) then all you have to do to make it the default program in explorer is right click the jpg in explorer and find the 'open with' on that dropdown. Click 'open with' and see if the program is in the list first, if not there is a more. And if not there there is a browse, and you need to find the .exe in C:\program files or program files (x86). Make sure you have the box checked that says 'always use this program'. Once you do it, it will become the default when you just double click a jpg. You can change it to something else this way, or any file for that matter. Al I have used that technque myself for other programs, but as u can see in the image below, I do not see any helpabout or for that matter any menu bar. Those blue "?" help circles don't always go where you think they do. They might not be rigged to actually help with the dialog they're located in. They can cause Edge browser to pop up and load some page from Microsoft. And all too often in the past, the linkage on things like that was broken. It would be against any design principle of "we're making a smartphone out of your desktop", to put a menu bar. The idea is, to dumb down the interface, even if the desktop user happens to have a 27 inch monitor and can see from here to eternity. Paul |

What I see is, once you get into the "Photos" App in View mode, clicking the Print icon in the right hand corner, opens your *printer software* dialog. That's the reason I cannot reproduce your imgur picture. You're using an Epson printer driver, and the two-up printer feature comes from Epson. https://imgur.com/a/v7QyPAZ When I enter the Print dialog, I get to select some printer from a drop down menu. But, it doesn't successfully do N-Up. If I enter the advanced settings, it "promises" to do more photos per page, but once I exit the advanced settings page, it still puts one stinking picture on the page. To select multiple photos, I had to go into Photos in Organize mode, and "add" the photos to my Collection. Then I was able to do "Select All", not with the normal control-A a person might use. Instead, I had to use that stupid button at the top labeled "Select All". Once I did that, I tried printing again. I still only get a single page of output with a single tiny dinky picture on it. The very definition of useless!!! And yet, Microsoft wants to push that crap, when Irfanview would make a fine replacement. Paul |
