Default Print Management - where is it hiding on me??

Just got a new Toshiba laptop running Windows 7.

Tried to install a fairly new Canon LBP 2900i laser printer that worked
great with Vista.

Downloaded the Windows 7 driver from the Canon website

The driver installation fouled up in some way.

When I tried to reinstall I get a message about the system being unable to
use the installer with this driver package.

Read somewhere that I need to remove all of the driver and any other bits
installed before I can try a reinstall.

I have tried all of the driver removal actions that I would have done with
XP but to no avail.

Read somewhere that "Print Management" will find and remove all printer
drivers for me.

Tried to access the new "Print Management" function which is supposed to
reside under Administrative Tools but cannot find the icon.

Tried to use the "snap in " function in Management Console but cannot find
Print Management listed as an option to "snap in"

Anyone know where I am going wrong?

Everything else is just dandy but I would like to be able to print :-{(

Or more generally...
Is there a Secret Decoder Ring available somewhere that
helps XP users find where they moved everything in Win7?

I could swear that most of the changes I'm having to deal
with in Win7 are simply change for change's sake. I can't
discern any actual benefit from the radical changes.

Change for change's sake is a key element of User Vicious
software products.

One of the reasons things have been moved around in Vista\Win7 is security.
Vista was a radical change from XP with the introduction of UAC. Settings
that posed a security risk had to be separated from those that didn't and
the result is a more fractured look compared with XP. That's why things
like Control Panel seem to have lots of settings scattered about whereas
in XP they were grouped together.

And windows 7 still has Help in the same place.
Actually I moved from XP straight to Win 7 and soon found my way around

Try searching for Print Management.
Start in the Search box type 'print' and the top item should be Print Management.

Try Control Panel/Devices and Printers Remove Device.

As for the driver I would then check the Device Manager for the Printer
Driver and if you find it, remove it, disconnect your printer and follow the
instructions for the installation of your printer substituting the new
driver where appropriate in the installation process.
