Do windows systems genetically pass problems on to later systems? This
afternoon one of my computers with win7 wouldn't shutdown. 98 had this
problem, did it pass it on the win7 generation?

Well, although I have NO proof I always use Darik's boot&nuke to wipe the
HDD prior to installing the OS. It seems that occasionally in the past
certain points were "seen" or "remembered" that shouldn't have been -
probably my paranoia.

Probably, I have always considered each "new" Windows O/S to be a mere
up-grade to the previous version(s) with a slightly modified GUI... more a
means of getting us to pay for the mistakes and up-dates that should have
been rectified in previous incarnations...... thus a way of footing the
Microsoft wage bill :-)

But remember the press have said that Windows 7 is *the* operating system,
the best ever, safest, securest most wonderful (etc etc)...which, as I
recall they said about Vista...which, by the way, I have never had any
problems with!
