I do not know why it created a new user, but you can safely delete it.

.net 1.1
Thanks, Jason.........that is peculiar - most folks will think that "product
1.1" replaces "product 1.0" :-) I also note the .NET 1.1 was a 37Mb install on my Win XP Home. "Jason Tsang" wrote in message ... It's by design The .net framework 1.1 doesn't replace 1.0 -- Jason Tsang - Microsoft MVP Find out about the MS MVP Program - http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/default.aspx "Mack L." wrote in message ... I installed this update, and promptly uninstalled it because of some odd behavior. The addition of the "ASP Machine A..." account hosed up the way I had my machine configured - one user, guest account disabled. The boot was now asking for a password, and it didn't boot right into Windows as I prefer. In addition, I now had two sets of configuration programs in the Start menu: Microsoft .NET Framework Configuration Microsoft .NET Framework Wizards Microsoft .NET 1.1 Framework Configuration Microsoft .NET 1.1 Framework Wizards The two sets each produced different program interfaces, leading me to think that it appeared I had .NET 1.0 AND .NET 1.1 installed. Sure enough, Add/Remove Programs showed a "Microsoft .NET" AND a "Microsoft .NET 1.1" installed. I selected the uninstall for .NET 1.1 and upon completion, I now have the original "Microsoft .NET Framework (English) v1.0.3705" still sitting there in Add/Remove. Peculiar, unless this is by design and just looks funny to me. Mack L. "J" wrote in message ... Hi, i used windows update today and it installed .net 1.1 but: Its created a new user profile, why?
