File dates on recorded cd -- please Help!!
Using the built in CD Recording feature of XP, I copy my files over to the
cd. It copies them okay. I even copy over whole folders. My question: Why does it change the creation date? If I copy a whole folder, all the files in that folder now have the date and time of when I recorded it, not the files original creation date. I would like to keep the original creation date. Is this possible?? I have looked all over in XP, but I can't find an answer. Please help! |

The date is when the file was created on the CD. You can't change it after
the fact! "justme" wrote in message news Using the built in CD Recording feature of XP, I copy my files over to the cd. It copies them okay. I even copy over whole folders. Thanks for replying. I guess you're saying that there's no way to set an
option to keep the original date stamp of the file. Is that correct? Thanks. On Sat, 12 Apr 2003 19:25:25 -0400, Crusty (-: Old ******* :-) wrote: The date is when the file was created on the CD. IIRC, it depends on the CD burning software you're using. The XP bundled software is limited in terms of options like this. Full-featured software usually allows you to keep the original file date/time stamps, use the current date/time, or set a specific date/time. The last option is useful for identifying file set versions. HTH -pk On Sat, 12 Apr 2003 19:25:25 -0400, Crusty (-: Old ******* :-) wrote: The date is when the file was created on the CD.
