I think step one would be Control Panel - Accessibility options ,
Display page and try the Use High Contrast, and the things you can
adjust with the Settings button

As a general start point after that, go to Control Panel - Display,
Settings page, click Appearance and put the DPI value up to 120 per inch
as a start. That will increase sizes all round, and may be sufficient
in itself. You can also take Advanced on the Appearance page to adjust
some font sizes (especially for icons or menus) and font to use

Right-click on the Desktop and choose Properties. On the Settings
tab, change to a lower resolution.

I recently upgraded to WindowsXP and re-installed
Office97. Is there any way for me to continue using
Outlook97 to send and receive faxes?

thanks
