Different colored lines in Folder contents (Detail View)
One note, these are not the same Compressed Folders as ZIP files. This is
an internal compression technique that the NTFS file system uses. XP will create some folders, on an NTFS drive, with this capability enabled automatically. The Windows\System32\dllcache folder is one example. -- Doug Knox, MS-MVP Windows XP/ Windows Smart Display Win 95/98/Me/XP Tweaks and Fixes http://www.dougknox.com -------------------------------- Associate Expert ExpertZone - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone -------------------------------- Please reply only to the newsgroup so all may benefit. In message , Mary Eicher writes This may seem trivial, but why are some documents' entries in blue and some black when I view the details of a folder's contents? Blue ones are compressed (usually folders). Black are not. You can get more interesting colours yet if you encrypt some (not recommended!). If it offends you, turn off 'show encrypted / compressed folders in different colours' in folder options, view (Explorer window) -- Rgds Dave Storey |
