Default Volume icon keeps disappearing

Ifyou didn't know. it is possible in XP to hide inactive icons in the system
tray. Right click taskbar and select properties. Then uncheck 'Hide inactive
icons'.

Can anyone tell me a way to fix this issue? Everytime
Win XP Pro restarts, the volume icon in the task bar
disappears. I have to go into the Control Panel/Sounds
and Audio, and turn off the "Place volume icon in the
taskbar" option, apply it, then turn on the "Place volume
icon in the taskbar" option, and apply it. After that,
it appears in the taskbar. But, if I restart, it is gone
again.

Any suggestions?
