Default Using old software

I have some software I was able to use on '98 but now
have XP. When I run it thru the compatibility wizard it
tells me I need the latest service pack for NT.....if I
download the latest service pak for NT on XP will it
disrupt my system?

Do not download any service packs for old Windows (95, 98, 2000, NT, ME).
Those packs can corrupt XP.
