Spellchecker
Hi Jim,
The Spellchecker is dependent on Office Word or Works. If per chance you have Office 97, this workaround corrects a very common Spellchecker issue: Go to Start/Run/EXPAND X:\i386\CSAPI3T1.DL_ C:\CSAPI3T1.DLL (Where X is your CD-Rom drive letter). And then copy it to: Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof Or download the file he Replace the Csapi3t1.dll file http://www.tech-pro.co.uk/howto_010.html If neither of the above applies: Spell Checker for Outlook Express http://www.spellchecker.com/personal..._hp_oe_dwn.htm Spell Checker for Internet Explorer http://www.webattack.com/get/iespell.shtml -- All the Best, Kelly MS-MVP Win98/XP [AE-Windows® XP] Troubleshooting Windows XP http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com Repair/Customize Quick Launch, Taskbar and Notification Area http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm Doug's Windows XP Security Console http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_securityconsole.htm "Jim C." wrote in message ... Spellchecker

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever come with a Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the spell checker that comes with Microsoft Word, (or another Microsoft Office program) if you have it installed. If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't have a spell checker. However there are several downloadable freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend one. On the other hand, if a Microsoft Office component *is* installed, try the instructions at http://michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup |
