Default Windows 2003 VS. Windows XP

Windows 2003 is a server operating system.
Windows XP is a workstation operating system.
You don't compare the two, both are used for different things. If your
running a network and need a server that accepts more than ten connections,
hosting websites, doing exchange, iis, terminal server, etc.. then get 2003
server. If your playing games, doing email, surfing, pictures, mp3's, and
word documents, then get XP.

You really cannot compare the two - Windows Server 2003 is a sever based
operating system and Windows XP is a desktop operating system. Which one is
better depends on your needs. If you need a network server Windows Server
2003 is the way to go. If you need a desktop OS Windows XP or Windows 2000
Pro would be the right way to go.

I think, Windows 2003 is just for servers...not an actual OS...

Windows 2003 is the server version, which is why it's called Windows 2003
Server. It's the newer version of Windows 2000 Server

Windows XP Home and Professional is the newer version of Windows 2000
Professional.

So therefore you only need Windows 2003 Server if you are planning to use
your PC as a proper server.

Otherwise there's no point wasting the money for the licenses.

Are you running a Server? Windows "Server" 2003 is a server OS. And unless
you have a few thousand dollars to spend, stick with Windows XP for a
desktop OS. Windows Server 2003 includes many server functions, but lacks
many of the features of Windows XP.

Of course it's an "actual" OS, it's a server OS.

True.

Basic windows games not included

This is not an operating system feature. This is a set of
entertainment programs. They have nothing to do with the operation of the
pc.

Windows Movie Maker not included

This is not an opertating system feature. This has nothing to do
with the operation of the pc.

Hardware Graphics Acceleration Disabled by default
DirectX is disabled by default
Windows Audio Service disabled by default
Themes disabled by default
CD Burning disabled by default
WIA disabled by default

All these can be turned on, so there's no reason to include them in your
list.

Features of the OS, I never stated that any of them have anything to do with
the basic operation of the OS itself. Please read before posting next time.

I have 2003 Enterprise Server installed on another hard drive. You can
convert it to a Desktop like XP.

I did read thank you (you can keep the attitude).

Games and MovieMaker are not features of the OS, they are included software,
that's all. The 6 services you mention are just turned off, they can easily
be turned on, so they really don't belong on a list of items considered to
be not included.
