Access denied!!!!

wrote: I have a desktop and a laptop that are on a home network using a wireless dsl router. The laptop is running XP, while the desktop is running ME. I am able to access the shared files on the desktop using the laptop(XP), but when I double click the icon for the laptop in network places on the desktop machine(ME), I get a message that states that I do not have permission to access the laptop through the network. I can not determine if the problem lies on the desktop or the laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jerry Run the Network Setup Wizard on the laptop to fully enable file sharing. If that doesn't fix it, try the tips he Windows XP Network Troubleshooting http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...g/troubleshoot Pay particular attention to the sections on firewalls (disable and un-install while troubleshooting), protocols (use only one), and NetBIOS over TCP/IP (enable it). -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups. Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Program http://mvp.support.microsoft.com |
