Default Can't correct Network problem

I have traced several of these problems to improperly configured winsock
LSPs. Run "winmsd" and go to Components/Network/Protocol. Look at the
names in the list, anything with "MSAFD" in it or the "RSVP xxx Service
Provider" should be fine. Anything else is suspect, and uninstalling the
owning program might help.

Using Windows xp
I am receiving the following error:
"Operation was attempted on something that is not a socket"
This error appears when I try to renew my IP connection
with my cable dsl isp provider.
There is a fix posted on the MS Knowledge base - KB318584
however this fix is for Windows 2000.
Using this fix I can not uninstall the TCP/IP stacks hence
I am stuck.
Is there a fix for this error for XP users?

You are correct when you say it's not possible to un-install TCP/IP on XP.
Here's another couple of articles you might like to try:

Default network problem

Do you get access to internet from both computers through the router?
If not - what about your ip configuration? Can you ping the router?
Need more information!

I am setting up a home network with a XP desktop and a XP
laptop. Both computers connect to the internet through a
wireless broadband router.

DESKTOP PROBLEM

I can't see either computer on the desktop.

LAPTOP PROBLEM

I can't see the desktop on the network.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
