Default xp 2000 network problem

I can't access shared printer or folders on xp box from
my 2000 box.

I have windows xp pro, windows 2000 and a linksys
wireless router. I am trying to network the two window
machines together. 2000 box was set up through the
router to my dsl using a linksys wireless adapter. I
added the xp box hardwired to the router. My printer is
attached to the xp box and has sharing enabled.

I have used the network wizard in xp to set up my
connection(using this computer connects to net through
network hub, other on network also connect directly).
Both machines are in the same workgroup and are using
dhcp. I have netbios over tcp/ip enabled on both
machines. I can map a shared folder on the 2000 box to
the xp box.

Ping: works from xp to xp, xp to 2000(using both ip and
name). doesn't work from 2000 to xp either by name or ip.
(timeout by ip and unknown host by name)
basically xp box can see 2000 but 2000 can't see xp

under 'view workgroup computers' on the xp box all that
is thier is the xp box but, I am still able to map the
shared folder on the 2000 box to the xp box.

on the 2000 box, I don't see the xp box in the computers
close to mine.

I have folders with the share option enabled on both
systems.

most of what I have tried has been from other similar
posts or
from 'http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/troubles
hoot/' site.

thanks in advance for the help
