Network and Firewall

Here's a question. When I'm running a network, do I need firewalls on both computers enabled? Or just on the desktop base computer? I'm a beginner all this is new to me. Thanks. Anna, a lot of questions in this newsgroup are there because people mistakenly enable the firewall on internal LAN connections. Don't do that. The firewall is only useful on a connection that leads directly into the Internet, i.e. on a modem dial-out connection or on a connection to a router, like for a DSL or Cable Internet connection. In case any further problem crops up, please have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm. Hans-Georg -- No mail, please. |

Other firewalls (e.g., ZoneAlarm) are more flexible than ICF. -- Cheers, Bob |
