Default Network help please (IP Conflict)

Thank you for the advice. I would definately rather allow
the IP addresses to be found automatically. I did not
run the utility, can that be found on my Win xp disc?

The 2 98se machines are using wireless network cards.
Should I load the utility on them and then set the address
to automatic, then shut them down while I work on the main
machine and unplug the router?

In addition, do I need to do any other configuration
within the router itself?

Thanks for the help
Mike

Did you use the XP network configuration utility on your
98se machines? If not...load it onto each...then set your
IP address to automatic.

Then disconnect your main router from the PC wait 15
seconds and plug it in again. Allow the main PC to find
its IP address, then do the same thing with each machine.

I have 4 machines in my network.
My main machine (windows XP) networked with a linksys
wireless G router
and a d link network card.
Laptop connected to the router in Port 2 ruunning

windows
XP
Desktop running windows 98se networked to the G router
with a linksys G54
PCI card
Laptop running wiondows 98se networked to the G router
with a linksys G54
notebook card.

I keep receiving an error message saying there is a IP
address conflict.
After looking at the address it states the conflict is
between my main
machine and the win 98se destop. Both addresses are
endning in .101

I will assume that my main machine should have that
addess, my laptop
running XP currently has a .102 address. How can I
configure the other 2
machines to carry an address of .103, and .104
respectively. Is it
possible, does it make sence to do?

Do I need to set something in the router to make it

happen?

Thanks for the help
Mike
