802.11b advice needed
First, you need to set your network up as a preferred network. Make sure you
have secured your wireless network as well since yours is in reach of other people. See http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...december03.asp for tips on how to secure your wireless network Matthew Tierney wrote: Hi! I have a new Gateway 450ROG, with a built in Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter. My Broadband modem, desktop computer, and home ethernet is connected to an Intel Wireless Gateway II. I have no problems connecting to my network or the internet. My problem stems from my laptop's ability to auto-sense other Wireless Access Points, other than my own. When it sees these "other" networks, it boots my connection to "my" network and asks me if I want to sign on to (a list of) available networks. How do I prevent my laptop w/ it's Wireless Card from seeing all these other networks and LET ME KEEP my connection to MY NETWORK? -- Barb Bowman Expert Zone Columnist http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone MS-MVP (Windows) |
