Default networking: win98=winXP

I am trying to network one computer that's 98, and one
that's XP, each time I've tyied to follow directions
w/Wizard, the 98 won't recognize the XP and vice versa.
I'm wondering if I were to eliminate BOTH networks and
start over again, if if wouldn't help. I've also tried to
network a Canon Multipass c530 into this, but have given
up and plan to just "save" and use shared documents to
print from.
Thanks!

I've written a web site that should help you solve the problem:

Windows XP Network Troubleshooting
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...g/troubleshoot

Pay particular attention to the sections on firewalls (disable and
un-install while troubleshooting), protocols (use only one), and
NetBIOS over TCP/IP (enable it).
