Laptop cannot print on shared Printer
I installed a network for a friend, networking 2 100 mhz
line computers, one Windows 98 and one Windows XP, with one 11 mb wireless HP laptop. The one printer is shared and installed on the wired Compac Windows XP PC. All 3 computers have the latest updates from Microsoft, they all three can access the cable modem and can share all files effortlessly from any one computer to the other. Both of the wired computers(1 Windows 98 and Windows XP) can print with no problem to the Compac IJ650 printer, but the wireless notebook when attempting to print gets error messages and shuts down any program and wants to send a trouble report to Microsoft. I did send the report but got no response in regards to any update available. Printing a test page in the installed printer driver under control panel on the laptop produces the error message "Function address 0x27B4732 caused a protection fault". Notepad, Microsoft Word, or any internet sites when attempting to print produces the notice that it has to shut down. The network connection for the wireless had to be taken out of the network bridge in order to work with the network, which is identical to my setup I have on my home network with a laptop and I have no trouble printing on all computers including a wireless. The network hardware tech support states that we must contact a network administrator or tech web sites (which did not address this problem) The laptop is XP version 5.1.2600 Service pack 1 build 2600 with 768 mb memory and a 2.4 ghz pentium processor on a Netgear 11 mb wireless/wired network. What can be done to get this laptop to print on the shared printer? I would appreciate the help. |
