Default PASSWORD PROBLEMS

What can you do if you've forgotten your password, even
with the hint? Other than write things down in the
future. My kid has established a password & now can't
remember it & we can not add/remove programs because his
log in is the admistrative one...I know, dumb move. But
if someone can HELP, please? Thanks!
