Shared printing - invalid access code
I have networked an XP machine and an ME machine
On the XP there is a USB Epson 680 set up for shared printing. Sharing files is working fine - I have Nortons firewall on both machines that is configured for access for both machines - problem still happens if I disable firewall on both machines When I try to print to it from the ME machine I get the following error message with the dialogue box titled PRINTERS FOLDER "There was an error writing to \\STUDYPC\Printer for printer [EPSOM Stylus COLOR 680]: The access code is invalid The printer will be set to work offline. To save your print job in the local printer queue, click OK" I have searched the knowledge base and not found anything relevant except a similar problem but with a specific HP printer - which needed registry editing - which I didn't want to do if it was not relevant to the Epsom Any pointers anyone can give will be geratly appreciated regards Mike |

Shared printing - invalid access code
Hi Mike
Try this link http://www.jsifaq.com/subn/tip6600/rh6687.htm Scroll down to the section entitled "Recommended Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles" Maybe something there will be useful. Also Have you installed the most recent XP drivers for the printer? Check the Epson site for updates. Is your model a 860 if so here is driver link http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...p e=Downloads A search for 680 came up with (LQ680Pro) here is link http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...p e=Downloads I know aggravating printer problems can be so I hope this helps. regards yellowpike "Mike Williams" wrote in message ... Although the port address was correct, I deleted that port from the printer properties and installed a new port with the same server address. The problem never recurred. Q |
