Disable saving to hard drive!
Kevin S Smith wrote:
How do you stop limited account users form changing or saving over anything currently on the hard drive. NTFS permissions Is there a way to only allow them to save file to a floppy or some other form of a removable disk. This information will be greatly appriciated. Thankyou! One "cheap" way of doing this may be to hid the hard disk from them. Again, you could also use NTFS permissions. For the majority of computer users however, surely you'd want them to be able to write back to their own "my documents" area and profile information? Also, don't forget that a lot of programs want to use temporary files as a scratch pad; stopping users being able to write all over your system wherever you like is good and easy to do, but while its possible to stop them writing to the hard disk at all it needs to be tested carefully as it can have bad results. -- -- Rob Moir Microsoft MVP for Windows / Security www.robertmoir.co.uk |
