Get AVG Virus scanner here free

-----Original Message-----
I have a DELL 8200 Inspiron lap top PC and would like to
run a virus scan on it, through the system files and C-
drive etc. I keep on getting unsavoury pop-ups when
connected to the Internet via AOL. I don't have Norton
Disk Doctor or anything like that, but wondered if Dell
put a scan and defect-correction system on the PC as part
of their package in general. If not, can someone
recommend a good anti-virus package? I tried McAfee but
they turned out to be very expensive and I was less and
less convinced that they were good news. In fact,
uninstalling McAfee was the only thing I could do to stop
their own pop-ups coming all the time.
Your advice would be appreciated.
