First of all, you aren't replying to me. Second, I had my hotmail
account long before MS bought Hotmail. You don't really think MS came
up with web-based mail on their own, do you. Third, that way MS gets
all my viruses first.

I don't know why you hate MS, but I've always wondered why you expend
all this energy on posting here and using MS products. I'm not flaming
you, and your posts don't bother me, but I don't understand why you
don't just use a different operating system. An operating system is
just a tool with which to get things done. There is no such thing as
perfect software, but you might prefer Linux, Mac OS 10.3, or Free
BSD. If Microsoft irritates you so, then don't use their products.
You have choices. And why post here? Why waste your time on this
activity when you could be doing something that would make you
happier? Life is short; make the most of it.

Did I say that MS irritates me? It's more like they give me a good
laugh at their expense. I didn't start this thread, that was done by an
imposter. I don't really hate anything, or anyone.

I am pretty damned happy using older MS software, just like many others.
Any other software technology would require me to throw out my years of
investment in education, hardware, & software. I'm not rich, so are you
offering to subsidize my transition to these non-MS dependent
technologies?

I post here to help other consumers that may only hear MS's FUD
otherwise.

That the problem with monopolies. Firstly Unix and it's clones are old =
technology. From Dos 2 MS started using unix concepts (as Dos was =
written on Unix as MS was a Unix company - they used it, wrote clones =
(xenix), and the intel version of the official Unix for AT&T). So not =
much point using BSD or solaris (I think solaris is free). Macs are also =
unix based now.

Once one had a large choice of OSs. Now one doesn't. This is because MS =
encouraged piracy of it's products, and a zero price forced most other =
companies out.

I agree with your over-all assessment, but I'm gonna quibble just a
little bit over the word "piracy." I am totally against all forms of
software piracy for profit. Installing software on more than one
computer you own is not piracy, at most it's breaking contractual term
that more than likely would never be found to be legally enforceable on
anonymous private individuals.

MS has gotten away with characterizing PA as an anti-piracy tool, when
the main goal seems more like a EULA-protection tool.

/quibbling

MS basically did allow the out & out piracy of their software to help
build their monopoly, now they want to cry about what got them there in
the first place.

You are right. The headers don't match, so most likely it was an impostor. And
I didn't know the history of hotmail, it's been run by microsoft since I first
saw it.
