Default Wireless Networking - Undocking Laptop

Hey guys, I need some help. One network I service uses
laptops with wireless networking. One of the laptops (XP
Pro) uses a docking station. The user will be running a
program off of the server and will need to undock the
laptop and go to another room where a client is at and
continue the work there.

The problem is that when a laptop undocks from it's
station, it goes into standby mode. This causes the
wireless connection to be lost. The user will hit the
power button to bring it out of standby and the wireless
connection will be disconnected but then it will
automatically be found. The server doesn't mind this too
much and the connection stays alive, however, the program
running on the server does not like the connection loss
(obviously) and will generate an error or will not allow
access to files generating a different error. So I'm
looking for a way around this.

The user needs to be able to keep the connection up and
running when undocking the laptop. Is there any kind
of "hot docking" feature where the laptop doesn't need to
go into standyby? I tried just unplugging it from the dock
without choosing undock from the start menu and this of
course locked the maching. This user is a doctor and kind
of tough to deal with so I don't want to give an answer
of "No it can't be done. You must log off the program
everytime and log back in." unless I am absolutely
positive there are no solutions. Nothing worse then
saying, "It can't be done." only to find out a week later
there is a solution. Thanks in advance for any help.
