Take a look at my Windows XP post ( a few below yours)
sounds very similar. You can try the arp fix and see if
it works for you too. Would be interesting to fine out a
solution to this....

two machines, one with xp home, one with pro, both
connected to linksys router and dsl internet access works
via this router. just installed the os for the pro
machine and now i cannot see either computer from either
machine. windows firewall is disabled and no changes have
been made to the router and there is not a third party
firewall installed. network worked finwe until hard drive
was replaced and full ver of xp pro was installed with
sp1. i have tried to change the network name on both
machines, changed the names, removed the network cards,
assigned ip addresses. thanks in advance.
