Default Network one XP computer with LAN running on 2K

-----Original Message-----
My office network runs on Win2K. I have just loaded XP on
one computer. Network does not recognize the computer
with XP nor does XP computer recognize the network. I
ran Network Wizard in XP. Disabled and deleted the
bridging problem. Any suggestions?
.

Hi Mike,

First thing can you ping the other system, are they on the
same network? if you can't ping it then it's most likely
a physical problem. On any W2K system go to start run
type cmd, this will bring up a dos box at the cm prompt
type ipconfig /all, it will give you the IPO and subnet of
the system you are on write this down. Now go do the same
thing on the XP system if it's the same subnet then try to
ping the w2k system you were just on by typing ping space
the IP address example ping 10.0.0.14 if you get a reply
then you are physically and logically connected on the
same network. If it's not the same make sure you have
under the My Network, Properties, Local or wireless
properties TCP/IP "Obtain an IP address automatically" is
selected. Then go to the CMD again and type
ipconfig /release then after it releases type
ipconfig /renew now try to ping.

At this point let us know how you're doing
