Default Questions about Windows Search 4 search options/locations and howto search files

I've added all my drives to the locations tab to the far left. However
when I go to the Search Options icon at the far right, only the C:
drive appears.

Another thing I've found is that it often won't find files if I
include the extension in the File Name field to the left - it will
only find certain files without the extension added, but then
sometimes it will - it won't find uniquefile.bmp but it will find it
if I just enter uniquefile

Thanks for all assistance

I.e. - how do I get all the selected locations to show up under search
options?

Default Questions about Windows Search 4 search options/locations and how to search files

As to the point you made about your system sometimes finds files when you
specify it's [dot]extension - and sometimes it won't .....

It depends on whether the particular type of file [extension] is, by
default, a normally hidden one or, by default, a normally shown one.
e.g.; Search should usually find a file if you specify a [filename.bak]
filename with a "bak" extension, but should not find a [filename.bmp] one
with a "bmp" extension.

That is because, by default, normally Windows is set up to show the [bak]
extension but hide the [bmp] extension part of "bmp" files.

However, if you change the settings in "Folder Options" (in Control Panel)
so that Explorer does NOT "hide the extensions for known file-types" (i.e.;
to show all file-extensions) - then you will be able to specify any
filename, including any extension, and it should be found!
