Hi Guys.
Is there a way with Windows XP (Pro) to make the ATTRIBUTES column in the View Details view of Windows Explorer, permanent ? I have found a registry modification for Windows 98SE but it does not work with Windows XP. Thanks Peter |

Hi Michael.
Thanks for your post. I have tried this and it didn't work permanently. More over, what I am trying to achieve is that when I select VIEW DETAILS, I want the ATTRIBUTES column to be permanently displayed as well as the existing information. I normally (and prefer) to view my files in LIST view. When I wish more information and then select VIEW DETAILS, that is when I want to see the ATTRIBUTES column. Thanks Peter "Michael T" wrote: Open Windows Explorer and go to Tools Folder Options View (tab) Click Apply to All Folders -- Michael "isprog" wrote in message ... Hi Guys. The following information is distilled from posts by David Candy:
= http://groups-beta.google.com/group/...xp.customize/= msg/69868b9b967f8445 Do all of the following, in the order listed, and see if your preferred = view sticks. 1) Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)=20 http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm 2) Open Regedit and delete the following two keys: = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Str= eamMRU" = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Str= eams" 3) Log off and log back on. "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\...\Streams" = should be recreated with a subkey named "Desktop" 4) Open 'My Documents', view details, add the attributes column (& any = other mods you want, i.e. Status Bar), then switch to list view. 5) from the menu bar in the 'My Documents' window: Tools - Folder = Options - View tab - click 'Apply to All Folders' 6) Check "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\...\Streams" again. It should now = have a binary value named 'Settings' and a new subkey named 'Defaults'. = If you look in 'Defaults', you should see a value named = "{F3364BA0-65B9-11CE-A9BA-00AA004AE837}" Your folders should now open in list view and have the attributes = column showing when you switch to details. Bear in mind if you close a = folder with a different view applied, that view will be saved. If you = want the folder to reopen in list view, regardless of how you closed it, = navigate to: = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\Exp= lorer" and change "NoSaveSettings" to 1. Good Luck, Keith "isprog" wrote in message = ... Hi Guys.
