Default XP Backup Utility Fails

What occurred to me and what may have occurred to the OP probably differ
greatly. I refer you to my comment about a slightly more comprehensive
inital response.

And who's talking about editing videos, handling compressed files and
searching anyway?

Did it really not occur to you that the software and hardware available
for backing up...or burning DVDs or editing video or handling compressed
files or searching...might have advanced over the last 8 years?

The "nature of taking back-ups" has not changed...the software and
hardware available to do so has changed dramatically, and for the
better.

Why are you using a backup program from 2002?
Has the nature of taking back-ups of files changed so substantially
since then? Why change a tool *just* because it's old? This newsgroup's
all about an operating system that's older than that.

"And who's talking about editing videos, handling compressed files and

Windows XP has utilities for those functions, just as it has a backup
utility.
