Default Spermowitz discovers the real world.

Seems like Roi Boi is already ****ing off his new employer.

I wonder if his new employer knows Roy is attempting to manage all his
hate, personal websites on company time?

What a ****ing turd.

schestowitz There's this annoying terminal at work where I need access to
Linux. [Oct 27 10:09]
schestowitz VirtualBox [Oct 27 10:09]
schestowitz I was wondering, would it be possible to have VirtualBox
installed for [Oct 27 10:09]
schestowitz me to reach my files at home via Fedora/sftp?
schestowitz I can't cope with a Windows terminal... :-)

schestowitz Hm... [Oct 27 12:49]
schestowitz They won't let me install VB [Oct 27 12:49]
schestowitz VirtualBox...

schestowitz It's annoying. I'm moving into another office soon... and
unless you live in South America or something everyone is a Windowshead
[Oct 27 18:23]
schestowitz I need to get them to put Fedora on a box. Just sent this other
query cause I'd need to have them put MATLAB on Fedora [Oct 27 18:24]
schestowitz I think it compiles mostly on Fedora and Red hat (RPM) cause
it's proprietary..

schestowitz "Just another quick question: the postdoc whose computer I
might take when she leaves next week only has Windows XP on it. Does the
department have any computers which run a UNIX/Linux operating system. The
issue is that all my program files and code are unix-y, so running and
working on a Windows environment would be very hard."

*plonk* is the sound that you made when your whore mother shat you out into
the toilet bowl.

the unclean bitch forgot to flush you and that is why a turd like you fouls
up the earth.

I'm very sure it is against the law to install this crapware on a PC of your
employer, which makes it illegal crapware!

Maybe you live in a country where your employer actually 'owns'
you, and can have you killed at will, but........

Other than that, it would only be a violation of some company
policy....hardly illegal......still enough to get you fired
though.

So, at least in the civilized world, I'm very sure you're wrong.

In my civilized country (Holland), the "company policy" has to be written
down in a collective agreement, employment contract, which is protected by
law.
It's stricktly forbidden to install or use non company software on a PC,
provided to you by the employer.

I've never had any issues with slicking the hardware they give me, and
putting on Linux. In fact, the customer's IT department seems to leave you
alone if you run Linux, as long as you update frequently.

Yes, I understand, but that does not make it illegal, you can
not get arrested and jailed, you will not be put on trial for
it.

So isn't it.. "It's stricktly forbidden to install or use non
company software on a PC, provided to you by the employer *IF
THAT'S WHAT'S WRITTEN IN THE COMPANY POLICY THAT THE EMPLOYEE
AGREED TO*. ?

I don't think 'forbidden' and 'illegal' are interchangeable in
this case.

My brother works in brokerage they have very strict rules
regarding personal software, USB keys and so forth. It's dictated
by the SEC and penalties do exist but at worst they are civil
penalties. Most often the person either gets warned or fired.
It's not against the law though.

if you run linux a _lot_ more than just their IT dept will leave you
alone.

just about every female will leave you alone.
everyone in management will leave you alone.
any guy who wouldn't be caught dead wearing a "Penguin Power" linux shirt in
public will also leave you alone.

your only friends are going to be other linux users and fat pimply guys who
watch the star trek marathon in their mom's basement.

and the reason people "seem" to leave you alone is because they like
observing you only from a distance. everybody likes to laugh at the freak
show.

so what color is your favorite "Tux Rox" tee shirt?
