Default Malwarebytes disables internet connections

I am still stuck trying to make this Dimension E521 PC work. I gave
up on its Vista installation, and installed W7 Ultimate. The machine
works just fine, except when I activate Malwarebytes of which I have
tried two versions, 2.0.2.1012 and 2.0.4.1026. Both disable the
internet connection (for both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome as
well as Live Mail). If I disable Malwarebytes, the connection becomes
just fine. And while the net is disabled, the wireless router
connection (task bar) still says it is working, so I am still
connected.

If I disable Malware protection (in settings) I can connect with IE or
Google fine. When I enable it, I lose the internet connection again.

I am using a ZyXEL G-220.v3 wireless USB adapter. While the internet
is disabled, if I connect a CAT5 from PC to router, the internet
connection becomes enabled, and I can use IE or Google Chrome fine.
But as I said earlier, my friend cannot use a CAT5 because of the
distance between her Verizon router and her PC.

I could really use a suggestion here please. I did not find any help
through Google searching.

Thanks

Wei

You can try these, but I really don't think
it is going to help. I selected this article,
because it has pictures.

"Quick Fix for Networking Problems"
https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=6653#7vista

netsh int ip reset reset.txt

netsh winsock reset

netsh advfirewall reset

You should really be asking this question on
the Malwarebytes forum. The thing is, AV people
*never* explain how their stuff works. They have
a code of honor, which states that they cannot
and will not give hints that could help the
malware writers. They will also not explain
how the AV products of other companies work.

What they can do for you, is provide workarounds.
Which would include "update to our latest version",
"here is a custom script for you to run" and so on.

And if there was something in the malware vault,
it was a key system file, and you deleted it, well
then, all bets are off. It would be sfc /scannow
time, time for a Repair install, Nuke and Pave, etc.

This sounds like a bug in Malwarebytes.

Strange one! It looks as if Malwarebytes isn't killing the internet
connection per se, but only the wireless adapter. So you can still
access the internet if you use an ethernet cable - so at least you have
a work-around.

If your friend cannot use a wired connection (you can get quite long
ethernet cables - longer than the size of most houses!) she could always
use power line adapters - which use the existing mains cables - with
just a short ethernet cable each end to the computer and router.

Sure does, doesn't it?
Thanks, as always - as a famous news commentator once always said.

Hey Paul - how do I 'run as administrator'? I have to do that in
order to use the above commands. I googled it, but didn't dohe
suggestion right I guess.

Thanks

Exactly. I wish I had a different adapter brand to see if the problem
is unique to this adapter.

So you can still
access the internet if you use an ethernet cable - so at least you have
a work-around.

Yes, except she really can't buy and run a super-long CAT5.

This could be doable except she has no money.

Thanks

Do i need both Malwarebytes and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit?
If the latter supplants the former, then since the latter doesn't
block internet acctess like the former, then that may be my only
choice for this problem.

Thanks

+1 on Paul's suggestion.

Super-Anti-Spyware also has some good reset (TCP and other) functions -
in it's free or portable version.
