Default Accessories/Entertainment Folder Is Empty

In Accessories, the "entertainment" folder shows as "Empty". How do I get the
contents back. I am specifically concerned with the sound. When I open the
control panel and select "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties", I click on
"show volume icon in the task bar" and I get the following message: "Windows
cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the volume control
program has not been installed". To Install it, Use Add and Remove Programs
in Control Panel"

When I opened Add and Remove, I tried "Add New Programs" and the two
choices are to add from a "CD-ROM or floppy disk or to add new windows
features, devices, drivers and updates", or "click Windows Update". I have
tried both things and I am lost. Can someone walk me through recovering the
contents of this "Entertainment Folder", "Accessories"?
