Default Windows Messenger Live Sign In problem

I'm trying to sign in into my Windows Live Messenger v8.0.0812, with my
account but without any luck. It doesn't show me any errors but can keep
signing in for hours and even days (icon is still moving and applicaiton
responding).

The Strange part is that I can log into WebMessenger, my Hotmail account
with the same user/pass and at least 2 other accounts on my Messenger.
But my account just won't work!

Tried to Rapair, Reinstall, Rename the folder "%appdata%\Microsoft\MSN
Messenger" but nothing helps.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi,

Did you try using the troubleshooting tools available inside Live
Messenger,. Try using that and there is a repair button also and in 90% that
solves the connection issue.

Greetings Alex,

To fix this problem, shut down Messenger entirely by right-clicking on its icon in the
notification area and choosing Exit, then download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...grsettings.reg

Then try signing in again.

Default Windows Messenger Live Sign In problem

Jonathan

I tried your reg fix and still have no success.
My problem is that I simply get stuck on the signing in screen with no error
messages...

It has always previously worked for me, and I did not do any changes!

What happens when I use your reg fix is that the first time I try to log on
afterwards, I get :signing in to Windows Messenger has failed because the
service is temporarily unavailable. please try again later. Error code
8004882c

If I retry, I get the no error message scenario again.
I tried following all the troubleshooting steps, deleting the contacts,
reregistering all those files, deleting the DLLs, I went into regedit and
manually deleted the policies. I uninstalled and reinstalled.

I do not use any firewall except winXP. My linksys router im pretty sure if
configured correctly. Like I said Ive been using messenger before with no
problems.

I can log into webmessenger, and when I try to log back on with windows
messenger live, it logs me out of webmessenger, but it never completes the
sign-in (with no error message)

please help if you can!!
thanks
mike

Default Windows Messenger Live Sign In problem

Hi,
I have the same problem everyone is describing; two little messenger icons
that just keep spinning but no sign in. I can sign in with my personal
account on my notebook with no trouble at all but not my work account. I've
downloaded the file as suggested by Jonathan Kay [MVP] but it hasn't fixed
the problem...it is driving me CRAZY!!!
