Default Windows XP sp2 Shutdown error notice

I am getting an error message when I shut down Windows.

My version is xp with service pack 2.

I receive the error sound and get a notice that All I have been able to read
is "application failed......" Windows shuts down before I can read anymore
(usually before I can read any).

I have updated several programs, including windows and otherwise everything
seems to work fine.

This problem has only recently arisen after the numerous updates.

I would like to be able to identify the error, and fix it before any
problems are caused.

Any sugestions?!?!?!?

Thanks,

Mark

Restart the computer.
Right-click on "My Computer" and select Manage.
Expand the Event Viewer category header (click on the +)
Browse through each sub-category looking for error records whose date
and time corresponds to your shutdown time.
Double click on an error record to see the details of that error.
Post the error record information back here if you need further advice
or assistance.

Good luck
