Limted Users and Windows Update
Is it possible to enable a limited user to automatically download and install
critical updates from Windows Update? If the do it manually, or through the settings in Control Panel (set up by an admin) it still requires them to be an admin to install them. I've been looking at gpedit.msc and there is some good stuff in there, but I'm not sure if this will allow a limited user to update... Cheers in advance, Mort |

You would have to configure the updates to happen automatically which is the
first option in System Properties\automatic updates or else the user will need to be a local administrator. --- Steve "Mort" wrote in message ... Limted Users and Windows Update
Yeah, I did that but it would then only download, not install any updates due
to permissions. After a some more testing, and five changes to the Windows Update settings in gpedit.msc, I got it downloading and installing on shutdown which is pretty much what I was after. Automatic Updates should work for non administrators. If using Group Policy
you would want to select option 4 in configure Automatic Updates which it sounds like what you probably did. Glad you got it working. --- Steve "Mort" wrote in message ...
