Vista I will not be buying
Uncle Joe rambled on in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general:
I won't be buying Vista anytime soon because first I want and enjoy the Classic look and feel. Want a Classic search, and a classic Microsoft Explorer display in file name sequence. I can find things faster in Classic mode. If I wanted a gee-whiz GUI, I'd buy a Mac with the latest OS. Don't need 3D glowing icons. Secondly, my apps work fine. Really don't want to buy new Vista-oriented software release licenses. It makes no sense. Am not against progress but where's the payback for me? "evieg" wrote in message ... "David Schwartz" wrote in : "Leythos" wrote in message ... In article , says... I apologize for the rant. http://snipurl.com/hbl7 I have made my decision Vista I will not be buying. No one is not going to tell me. I can't have access to a part of the computer or the hard drive. Imagine if a virus, spyware or adaware got into that protected area and a virus program could not clean it. I'm Sticking with xp & windows 98se forever. If I have to get a new computer it will be either mac or linux system. So, what you're saying, is that you want the option to be able to steal media if you choose and it's not the right of the OS vendor to limit you in any way? That's not what he's saying. What he's saying is that he trusts himself more than he trusts his OS vendor. It's a question of who should have the keys to his computer, him or Microsoft. He chooses himself. I would too. DS Pitiful arguments for and against. If you are against copying - then just don't do it! If you are for copying - then think outside the box and buy a scan converter and split your audio out - sending that to a standalone VCR/DVD recorder unit for about $129.00 (US) and shut up. The folks who own the copyrights think folks are not smart enough to realize that you can record things withou a computer - and most of these replies talking about invasion of privacy - lack or respect - etc. just need to learn that nothing can be protected from copying if you think outside the box. cya! I won't be buying it either but I'll probably use it. |

Well, unlike you, Black Baptist, if I did decide
to go the Vista route, I'd buy the software. "Rambling" is in the eye of the beholder. Just stated my views on a Vista relase sans Classic Views. What does that mean, Plato? What troll infected group?
I just responded to Black Baptist. Is he known to be a troll? "Plato" |@|.| wrote in message ... Nothing wrong in posting there individually if you want, as there are still some legit people left. But just delete that group from any repsonse you send from here, microsoft.public.windowsxp.general. Most all of the trolls there are banned from this group, so the only way they can pollute this group is if you crosspost/respond and include that group in your response. Sort of like trying to stop the new chicken disease from spreading Good luck. Thanks for writing back. |

Black Baptist has proven himself to be a troll.
Rather than to deal with him further, I just killfiled him. Too bad we can't ban him in this newsgroup, too. I promise to look for "alt.os.windows-xp" when planning to respond to messages. Happy Thanksgiving to all. "Plato" |@|.| wrote in message ... Uncle Joe wrote: What does that mean, Plato? What troll infected group? I just responded to Black Baptist. Vista I will not be buying
No one is saying you can't have access to parts of your computer. All this
means, is that Windows Vista will work well with TVs and monitors with DRM capabilities. If you want to use another version of Windows, or another operating system that does not support the new hardware, you can. But if you want to "future proof" for the newer hardware, you'd better make sure your operating system supports this feature, or you may not be able to play DVDs or watch movies rented online.
