Default Problem with IE8

Anybody noticed on task manager that although IE seems to have closed
down completely, Task manager implies that there are still a number of IE
tasks extant? Seems to occur when a file transfer may have not taken place
correctly, or is that just my imagination.

If a tab or tabs have not shut down properly, usually due to an error,
the process will remain active. Sometimes it is impossible to "end
process" with the Task Manager. When that happens, I log off and log
back on. That clears the errant processes.

Yes. That's fine. But surely the system should cope better with such
events. Most other errors give rise to events of some sort or other and end
up giving some notification. These particular events don't seem to give any
information at all. It's just by chance that I happened to notice that
something was going on!
