Where are the files I want to backup?
How do I get the Files and settings transfer wizard to run?
Thanks, Leo Peter Hutchison wrote: On Mon, 17 Mar 2003 22:54:34 -0500, Leo Kerner wrote: After I lost files as a result of a s/w crash I want to backup all that=B4s important. Is there an utility somewhere to write to CD say, = all files in My Documents, and selected, named files? My Documents are in c:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents but can be relocated elsewhere. Where are the netscape files located.... say, address book, bookmarks,= and mailboxes? c:\Program Files\Netscape. Bookmarks are saved as one file eg bookmarks.htm Where are the Outlook files.... calendar, tasks, etc.? MS Outlook or Outlook Express? For OE, they are stored in c:\documents and settings\ usually. Open OE, select Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder. For Outlook, goto Tools, Services or Email Accounts and look up properties or advanced settings for location of PST file. Any suggestion as to a good way to go about this? Files and settings transfer wizard will back it all up for you, save the backup file in your CD Burner directory e.g. c:\documents and settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning and then you can burn it direct to CD when done. The "Help and Support" file has some information about how to use the program. Below is a link to an article in the MS Knowledge Base: HOW TO: Use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;293118 Sharon F MS MVP [Shell/User] |
