i couldn't get the desktop
hiii
i've loaded windows XP sp2 on my computer's C drive.but due to virus attack or some other reason i could not get the desktop icons and tool bar too.i've some important data in administrator's documents.i want to recover that data. so i've loaded windows XP sp2 on F drive to copy the administrator's documents in C.but it displays the message "access denied". so how can i fix the problem? plzzzzzzzzz tell me......... |

It's called "taking ownership". How you do this depends on whether it's XP Home or Pro. Google "take ownership XP". http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421 If you have important data in the Admin structure, that probably means that you have XP Pro *and* that you were using the Admin account as a regular user account. This is bad practice; that account should be reserved for system maintenance only. Create a user account for yourself and leave the Administrator account alone unless you really need it. HTH -pk |
