W10 alarm
Thisevening after dinner I sit down and open the lid of my laptop and
log on. 'What's that strange noise?' says mrs W 'It's the alarm I set to wake up at 6:30 yesterday morning. It's going off now because I have just logged on' 'what an utterly pointless thing' she says. Yes. WTF. Who made this crap? Tim W |

Tim W Way back when I was trying the technical preview on my laptop I noticed the same thing with the alarm app. Even if I didn't close the lid and disabled hibernation after so many minutes the alarm rarely worked like it should. I'm sure Microsoft will get it figured out now that they have 15million+ users on the new OS. It just takes time. |

Oh yes, software never runs from memory and software never requires something to load it into memory and alarms should always sound even when you intentionally powered down the computer. Why even have a computer. Just have the code magically execute on its own. Oooh, self-executing code that doesn't require hardware. Where can I get a blender like that? We're supposed to have an elevated opinion of your spouse from her comment? Or are you ridiculing here your spouse? So what's your spouse's comment on why alarm clocks should go off when they haven't been wound, they aren't plugged in, or there are no batteries inside? "What's that noise?" "It's the alarm with the alarm hand set to for an alarm. It's going off now because I (wound up | plugged in | inserted batteries) into the alarm clock." "What an utterly pointless thing: an alarm clock the doesn't go off with no energy source." "Yes, WTF, who made this crap." Were you simply agreeing with your spouse because you didn't want to educate her and thereto get into an argument that involved that wonderful "logic"? Does she also believe in perpetual motion? Does she tap her feet 3 times over her shoes at the bedside before she can put her feet on the floor or into her shoes? Has she yet revisited her astrologist? Is she worried that all the electronics are consuming up our electron supply? Is she preparing for admission to http://www.darwinawards.com/? I know, your post was a belated April Fools joke. That's it. |
