I think its finally come down to getting rid of some of the complete

Alt-T, Message Filters. The interface is fairly intuitive. I use it to
filter out the Linux losers in comp.os.linux.advocacy.

First of all do you have a Menu bar at the top of the screen? If you
don't, right click on the Tool bar, it has the search box in it. Then
click on Menu bar, and one will appear at the top of the screen.

To filter someone out, click on the message you want to filter, to
highlight it.

Then click on Message in the Menu bar, then click on Create Filter From
Message.

This will open up Filter Rules, and you should see "From Is:" Good
Guy. If it doesn't have his name there, and just has an example, like
, then just highlight that and delete it and
type his name in. After you do this the first time the name should
appear automatically when you create another filter.

After you have done all that click OK, and click on Run Now. It
should run automatically from then on when checking for mail.

I'm glad you got it working, it makes reading newsgroups a lot more
enjoyable.

I found a newsgroup you might enjoy, if you don't already read it.
It's soc.retirement. I don't post there, but enjoy reading it, and
it's a very active group. There are many people there about your age.
