Display not powering off
An occasional (Dell) laptop sometimes goes through
a period of not turning off the display even though there's no manual activity. The display is set to power off after 5 minutes. Jobs are running (not flash) but there's no manual input, and most laptops will power off the display as it's set. Just not the occasional one. XP Home O/S No special software, just Cygwin running background jobs remotely from across the room. Is there any clue what's acting up to make it think there's activity? The machines are on 24/7 so a display always on shortens the display florescent bulb life. -- On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |
