Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network Connections

On Windows10 Control Panel there are 8 facilities.

One if them is "Network and Internet", which has 3 lines:

1. Connect to the internet
2. View network status and tasks
3. Choose homegroup & sharing options.

If I select 'Connect to the internet' I see a window saying:

"Windows did not detect any networking hardware"!
(Whereas Device Manager/Network adapters shows:
- Realtek PCIe GBE Family Cotroller
- Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn WiFi adapters
(which I earlier uninstalled and re-installed a suggested
elsewhere)

If I select 'View network status and tasks' it shows a window:

"View your basic network information and set up connections"
followed by the word "Unknown"

If I select homegroup and sharng options it just shows
"his computer cannot connect to a homegroup"

Do any of your connections have a status of Disabled?

No such info seen

I wonder if this is related to Cisco VPN (DirectConnect???) ?

There's some VPN product like that, where a side effect
of even running the diagnostic related to it, damages
a particular registry setting for IPV6. And without IPV6,
Homegroups won't work.

I only wish I could find such an options window...

What is the address path to that one?

Been here; done that, but as I have said before, at the 3rd step all I
see (under "Network Connections") as an empty window except for the
info : "The folder is empty"...
THAT is the problem!

Sounds like your problem is your Windows installation.

Other people have posted links to screenshots. You should try doing the
same. It's possible that you have a new and exciting issue.

Apologies for late reply.

Running "Windows 10 Home version 10.0.10240 Build 10240" it says.

I suspect I simply unplugged the ethernet when Updates started pouring in
duuring
some offline work (even though I had requested 'No updates' somewhere).
