Default How do I get my start button to function again

Hi All,

Oh now this is annoying!

Playing around with the 10 preview release I decided to
run M$ Updates. It installed KB3034229. After rebooting,
I noticed that if I clicked on the start button or pressed
the win key, instead of popping up the start menu, I got
the search bar to the side in the task bar (I had turned
the search bar off, now I got it back).

Removing the KB did not get my start pop up back.

Any idea how to fix this?

Many thanks,
-T

Did a restore and that did not work.

Had to do a full reinstall and that worked. Lost everything
I had previously installed, but that wasn't much

If you don't do a Search, the box won't be there. Once you do Search, the
box remains (and in the way if there are any Recently Added apps and on the
All Apps page) until you reboot. Going full screen on the Start menu at
least gets it out of the way on the first screen, but not at the bottom of
All Apps. I'm not liking this new feature too much either. Overall, I think
Win10 is OK, but I'd like to see this fixed before the final release.

I'm on 9926. I haven't been offered 9928 yet. And there doesn't appear to be
a way to check in this release like there was in the previous ones.

My bad. I don't have it running right now. It is 9926. There is no other. I was wondering, as they changed that
start menu again.

I am on 9926 too.

My virtual hard drive is now backup up with dump, so if
this happens again, I will just restore my hard drive.
