Default Windows Movie Maker 2.1 Question

I have .mpg files already on my computer. When I play them in windows media
or any other utility they play with no problems. I want to edit these .mpg
clips that I have in Windows Movie Maker. However, when I import a file I
get the following error message:

C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Sandra\Videos\movie \MOV01B.MPG could not be
imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from

It does this with all my movie files. I am not computer literate and do not
understand why I cannot import my files for editing.

1.) What does this error mean?
2.) How do I import these files?

Thank you for your time,
Sandra

That was the problem. Thanks for the links. My files were mpeg2 and the
movie maker would not recognize it. I will need to convert them to .avi.
