how to disable annoying feature
When moving around application windows, they get maximized when touching the
edge of the screen. This is very annoying. If I want to maximize an app the old "maximize icon" on the upper right corner is sufficient for me. How can I disable this annoying automatic feature? -- |\ /| | \/ |@rk \../ \/os |

Gosh, this was really hard to find in the optios jungle. But I did it! Hope I'll never have to dig this out in future... Running to the other computer to repeat this, while still in my mind :-) What a relief. -- |\ /| | \/ |@rk \../ \/os |

So now I have both disabled at the time... That's what snap does. It snaps the window to the side of the screen to which you dragged it AND it sizes the window to half the screen. Dragging the window to the top of the screen then maximizes the window (same as using the Maximize control in the titlebar of the window). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y2YG8xydGk It also mentions the Win+key shortcuts for snapping and restoring. |

how to disable annoying feature
Per Linea Recta:
When moving around application windows, they get maximized when touching the edge of the screen. This is very annoying. If I want to maximize an app the old "maximize icon" on the upper right corner is sufficient for me. How can I disable this annoying automatic feature? Devil's Advocate Position: Learn to live with it by training your lower brain stem not to drag all the way up. It was driving me nuts.... and I looked up/applied the registry workaround... but after about my third re-image, I got tired of doing that and eventually, I found myself not provoking it anymore. -- Pete Cresswell |

I'm used to moving windows out of the way half way under the edge when needed, without spooky things happening automatically. How about vanguards procedure? BTW I find the snap feature (invisible grid) for the desktop icons very handy. But without automatic sorting. -- |\ /| | \/ |@rk \../ \/os |

You can still move your windows out of the way, including partially off-screen. Nothing happens unless/until your mouse pointer bangs into the edge of the screen. -- Char Jackson |

Per Linea Recta:
I'm used to moving windows out of the way half way under the edge when needed, without spooky things happening automatically. On my Windows-7 box the fullscreen thing only happens when I move the top of window to the top of the monitor. i.e. I can slide a window halfway off the monitor by moving it downwards or to one side with no problems. If they were to snap to fullscreen when moved down or sideways, I would call that a beeeeeeg problem and would not even think about trying to live with it. -- Pete Cresswell |
